Garage Door Technician and Installer
Established garage door service and installation business seeking honest, hardworking, experienced garage door installer and repair technician within the Chicagoland area. Strong ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
Responsibilities
•Inspect garage doors, openers and related components; diagnose problems; replace or repair doors, openers and parts.
•Prior to commencement of work, determine if appropriate tools and equipment are working and/or available.
•Establish the needs of each job and document the full installation/service needed.
•Regularly perform job duties in a garage environment often under conditions of summer heat and winter cold.
Qualifications
•Previous residential garage door sales/repair/installation. Commercial experience a plus.
•Excellent telephone, written and verbal communication skills while interfacing with all levels of staff and customers.
•Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
•Good at working with your hands; highly technically savvy.
•Maintain a polished personal appearance.
•Ensure company provided vehicle is kept neat, clean and organized
•Must have good mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to understand and work with common power tools.
•Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and carry for up to 50 feet.
•Must be able to communicate in English. Spanish a plus.
•Must be able to climb and work from a 12’ stepladder.
•Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold.
•Ability to push, kneel, crouch and climb ladders.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Installer/Service Technician is the installation and service provider for residential garage doors and garage door openers. Commercial experience is a plus.
Work assignments are received from the Service/Installation Manager. Any problems, questions, or issues will be referred to the Manager for clarification or resolution.
Installation/Service technicians are the first line of support for customers and are expected to maintain a neat and clean appearance and to treat all customers with decency and respect at all times, regardless of the customer’s mood or disposition.
Targets and Performance:
•Must accurately fill out work order.
•Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds for up to 50 feet.
•Must be able to climb and work off of a 12’ high stepladder.
•Must turn in job tickets and work orders the follow morning.
