The primary role of the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor is to support the Maintenance Supervisor by creating job plans for maintenance activities, ensuring all maintainable assets have detailed preventative maintenance plans, and keeping assets up to date in the CMMS system. This position will also assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the oversight of daily maintenance activities at a coal-fired power plant and will act as the CHPP Maintenance Supervisor when the Maintenance Supervisor is off-site.
- Starting Salary Range : $130,742.10 - $135,100.17
This is an in-person position located in Fort Wainwright, Alaska
What you will do
- Develops and coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance plans for coal-fired power plant systems and equipment to ensure reliability, regulatory compliance, and minimal downtime. Utilizes CMMS software to manage work orders, resource planning, and materials procurement, supporting efficient and safe execution of maintenance activities.
- Coordinates maintenance activities with Operations, Project Managers, and the Scheduler.
- Ensures maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Monitors employee involvement with the DU loss prevention program ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducts inspections, provides training, and investigates incidents to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
- Ensure maintenance related SOPs are up-to-date and conduct quality control inspections.
- Develops preventative and corrective maintenance plans, and identifies the labor, materials and tools necessary to complete work tasks.
- Ensures accurate maintenance records are maintained and recorded for historical purposes.
- Observes worker and company contractor activities to verify that maintenance activities are being conducted in accordance with company quality and safety standards.
- Performs periodic audits and inspections to ensure proper accountability of materials.
- Ensure work leaders and staff comply with Doyon Utilities policies and work procedures.
- Works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the plant equipment is properly maintained.
- Learn, adopt, and apply safety programs.
- Learn, adopt, and apply security program requirements related to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to department staff.
Conditions of Employment
Must pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- 4 years Operational or maintenance experience in a coal fired power plant or similar industrial facility. Required
- 1 year Maintenance planning experience. Preferred
- 1 year of Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Maximo preferred. Required
- 1 year Supervisory experience. Preferred
