About This Job

We are conducting electric meter upgrades in the Roswell, NM area for Xcel Energy and are hiring Electric Meter Installers/Technicians! NO EXPERIENCE is required with paid training! If you consider yourself an independent worker and enjoy being outside, this job is for you!

Position expected to end on/around December 31, 2025.

All of our field staff are provided with:

•

Safety gear including company boot (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.

•

Paid Training at $18/hour

•

Company provided vehicle

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for installing single phase electric meters by replacing an existing meter (change-out). The new meter and meter module are installed to automate the process of reading a meter for accurate consumption and billing.

Requirements:

•

Valid driver’s license

•

Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings: drug test, background check, and driving record

•

Must be able to walk up to 10-15 miles per day, outdoors in all-weather environments

•

Ability to perform physical duties such as lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs. of force unassisted.

Working Conditions and Hours:

•

M-Th 7:00am - 5:00pm (optional Fridays and Saturdays)

•

Paid training at $18/hour, and after the initial classroom training and field training, employees will be transitioned to being paid on a piece work basis!

•

Outdoor work environment

•

Normal working hours are daylight hours; limited work hours on weekends except for periodic on-call duty and mass workloads

•

Little supervision to give you freedom to work independently and manage your own day

•

Employees working this position will not qualify for company benefits due to the duration of the position.

Knowledge and Abilities:

•

Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests (Meterpro)

•

Learn and apply safety measure relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related matters
