GENERAL SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of petroleum products to residential and commercial customers. AC&T drivers play a critical role in shaping our service reputation as a company. The driver must exhibit a thorough understanding of the equipment being operated and the products being delivered.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Complies with all DOT regulations and AC&T policies, procedures and practices, including Safety rules and regulations.
•Responsible to perform pre-trip, post-trip, and in-transit inspections.
•Delivers fuel or propane in a timely and safe manner
•Maintain equipment in clean, organized and safe working condition.
•Lifts and carries long hoses for dispensing product at customer locations.
•Provides friendly, courteous and professional service to customers.
•Completes route as assigned in an efficient and safe manner.
•Avoids overfills, spillage or mixed fuels during delivery or while loading and unloading the fuel or propane.
•Check condition of tanks to ensure proper delivery.
•Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary documentation related to truck operations and fuel hauling.
•Informs Vehicle Maintenance department of any vehicle/tank issues.
•Keeps a good line of communication with Dispatch Manager concerning all aspects of your deliveries to include reporting of accidents, breakdowns, weather or traffic related conditions and emergencies and any irregularities relating to pick-up or delivery of load.
•Professional representation of AC&T through responsible driving.
•Performs other tasks & duties as assigned or required
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•High school graduate or GED
•Possess a valid driver’s license Class A or B CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements
•Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance and transportation of hazardous materials.
· Ability to deal professionally and courteously with co-workers and customers
•CDL driving experience of 2+ years.
•Physically capable of using equipment to load and unload tanker trucks, including pulling hoses and climbing onto the top of the tanker
· Physically able to participate in heavy lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, carrying hoses/nozzles/fittings weighing 50 lbs.
· Experience driving in snow, ice, and wet conditions.
· Able to withstand exposure to dust, fumes and high noise volumes.
· Demonstrate patience during load/wait- times/traffic adversity and conditions.
· Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen test.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work in all types of climates and conditions indoors and outdoors to include heat, cold, rain, snow and ice. Must be able to withstand exposure to dust, fumes, hazardous materials and high noise volumes. Must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Some stress related work due to transportation logistics, customer issues and concerns. May be required to work alternative shifts, long hours, weekends and work additional signed loads in compliance with DOT regulations.
