JOB SUMMARY
The Foundry Technician is responsible for executing a range of tasks involved in the metal casting process, including core making, mold preparation, melting, pouring, shakeout, and surface finishing. This role is essential to ensuring high-quality castings through precision, safety, and collaboration in a manufacturing environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Perform daily operations in one or more of the following casting functions:

Core making - form the internal surfaces of castings.

Mold making - form the external surfaces of castings.
+
Mold closing - assemble cores and molds into complete mold assemblies.
+
Melting - prepare molten metal from scrap steel/raw materials, adjust chemistry and temperature.
+
Pouring - transfer molten metal into mold cavities.
+
Shakeout - remove core and mold sand from castings and reclaim sand.
+
Casting cleaning - remove gates, risers, fins, and surface defects; abrasive blast surfaces; inspect and repair castings.
•Operate equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, and loaders as required.
•Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
•Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
•Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
•Support casting operations across various foundry departments.
•Assist with sand reclamation, pattern storage, and casting touch-ups as needed.
•Actively contribute to safe and efficient daily operations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
•Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•1+ years’ experience in 2 or more of the following: pattern shop/storage; core making; molding making; mold closing; induction melting; pouring; shakeout; abrasive blasting; gating & riser removal; grinding; casting inspection and touch-up preferred.
•On the job training Is available.
•1+ years’ experience operating forklift; overhead crane; frontend loader preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
•Must have corrected vision to 20/20.
•Willingness to work in environments with extreme temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and moving equipment.
•Must possess general knowledge of industrial applications in a manufacturing setting.
•Must possess general knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
•Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
•Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
•Required to wear PPE including hard hat, gloves, face mask, and steel-toed boots.
•Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
•Able to work well in a team environment as well as self-directed when working independently.
•Willingness to comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
•Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
•Ability to multitask in fast paced environment.
•Factory environment with large range in temperature changes.
•Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks including walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching for extended periods of time.
