The Forklift Operator (Shipper/Receiver) operates a forklift and locates, moves, stages, and loads outgoing material on trucks, as well as unloads and moves incoming material from trucks to designated areas according to company procedure. They are also responsible for making sure all in-bound shipments received conform to agreed specifications, by accurately identifying and recording shipments according to the company’s procedure and that all in-bound and out-bound pallets/inventory are tagged correctly. In addition, the role will occasionally assist with production; sorting, manually dismantling and disassembling electronics and related equipment in an efficient manner while respecting the standards of security and safety.
Responsibilities
•Locate, weigh-out, stage, and load outgoing items as directed by the Supervisor.
•Check materials to be shipped against work orders to ensure quantities, destinations, routings are correct.
•Perform physical cycle counts of materials to be shipped.
•Prepare and select appropriate shipping container for material shipments and pack materials to ensure safe delivery.
•Unload various materials or containers from trailer and move these items to designated areas
•Receive incoming material shipments in accordance with Company procedures including primary incoming shipment inspection, documentation, and material control.
•Inspect shipments for damages or defects; record discrepancies or damaged and notify supervisor.
•Unboxing and sorting equipment.
•Track inventory and perform cycle counts.
•Operate cardboard baler, pallet wrapper, hard drive shredder, electric forklift, and reach truck after completing required training.
•Safely transport products in bins, bales, cartons or on skids from and to different workstations in the production area using forklift in timely manner while ensuring production schedule is maintained.
•Perform and keep logs of inspection of forklift before use on each shift.
•Inspects required personal protective equipment and brings health and safety issues to the attention of the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
•Forklift license and 2 years experience necessary
•Computer knowledge and skills is required
•1-2 years of experience in shipping or receiving in an industrial setting
•Previous experience in any industrial or manufacturing setting.
•Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
•Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships).
•High level of concentration.
•Ability to stand for long periods of time
•Tasks require lifting of up to 20 lbs. regularly or 50 lbs. occasionally as well as reaching for /pushing and pulling various weights.
•Positive attituded and desire to learn
•High school diploma is preferred.

Working Conditions

•High volume of heavy equipment traffic.
•High Exposure to loud noise; vibrations; hot and cold temperatures; dusty conditions, hazardous chemicals.
•Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced warehousing, processing and manufacturing environment.
•Prolonged standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and repetitive arm movement.
•Wearing of required PPE, respirator, safety glasses, gloves and shoes.
