Forklift Operator

Job Overview

We’re seeking a skilled and safety-minded Forklift Operator to work in our outdoor steel yard. This position involves handling large steel beams and heavy materials using 5K forklifts, a 10K telehandler, and a 10K Combi lift. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an exterior environment and be comfortable operating multiple types of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

- Operate small forklifts, telehandlers, and Combi lifts to load, unload, and move large steel beams and other materials around the yard.

- Safely load and unload flatbed trucks and trailers, ensuring secure and accurate placement of materials.

- Assist in the organization and maintenance of yard inventory for easy access and efficient material flow.

- Assist with staging orders and preparing materials for delivery or pickup.

- Conduct daily pre-use inspections on all equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.

- Work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following company and OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain one.

- Prior experience working in a steel yard, construction supply yard, or fabrication facility.

- Knowledge of rigging, load balancing, and secure transport of heavy materials.

- Basic understanding of yard layout, inventory control, or material tagging.

- Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, or Combi lifts in an industrial or construction environment.

- Comfortable handling long and heavy materials such as steel beams.

- Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 lbs and perform physical labor in outdoor conditions.

- Strong focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

- Reliable and punctual with good communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour
