FORKLIFT MECHANIC

JOB SUMMARY

Maintain and repair various types of forklifts and material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure all machinery operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on forklifts and related equipment.

- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and execute repairs.

- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.

- Collaborate with warehouse staff to identify equipment issues and implement solutions.

- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

- Order and maintain inventory of parts and tools as needed.

- Provide training and guidance to operators on proper forklift usage and maintenance.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- 5+ years as a mechanic (heavy equipment or automotive)

- Experience working with hydraulic systems

- Experience diagnosing electrical issues

- Basic computer skills are preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; elevated noise levels and vibration. Employee must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.
