Currently, our Information Technology Infrastructure and Support Services Department has an opportunity for a First Line Manager, Information Technology. The Infrastructure and Support Services Department holds the responsibility for managing IT Infrastructure and IT Operations sections. Within the IT Operations section, there are two primary areas: IT Field Services and the IT Service Desk. The First Line Manager, Information Technology, will have direct oversight of the IT Field Services team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
The First Line Manager (FLM) in Information Technology will oversee a team of IT staff, with the support of Union Team Leaders, and be responsible for their work output. Your role involves facilitating the planning and organizing of the team's tasks, providing necessary advice, guidance, and direction. You will manage the Unit's operations, ensuring adherence to the budget and maintaining customer satisfaction with the services provided. These services may include Service Desk support, Telecommunications support, field support, Vendor Management, hardware and software procurement, and project support. Additionally, you will manage the health and safety of the workers, ensuring they are properly trained and available to meet the business demands.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:* Leads a work group of Information Technology staff and is accountable for their work output by facilitating the planning and organization of the group's work, setting goals and objectives for the team and function and providing advice, guidance and direction as necessary.Knowledge and Skills:* Requires knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, engineering and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility.
Education and Experience:* This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of Grade XII plus 2 years' further concentrated study in a relevant field such as Information Technology Services, Computer Science Technology or Network Management.
