Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finishing Technician / Painter to join our production team. This position combines the precision and craftsmanship of a body shop painter/finisher with the hands-on support role of a fabrication helper. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and painting surfaces, assisting in the fabrication and finishing of elevator design products, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.
- Prepare component surfaces for painting by gluing, sanding, grinding, masking, cleaning, buffing, hardware assembly, minor maintenance and priming.
- Mix and apply paint using spray guns and other finishing equipment in a spray booth.
- Accurately match colors using paint mixing systems.
- Apply clear coats, perform blending, touch-ups, and polishing for a smooth, high-quality finish.
- Inspect painted surfaces to ensure adherence to job specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain proper cleaning and maintenance of paint booths, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of paints, solvents, and hazardous materials.
- Wear appropriate PPE and follow all health and safety guidelines.
- Assist the Fabrication Lead in manufacturing custom elevator products using various raw materials and hand tools.
- Help conduct final inspection of fabricated parts to ensure quality, accuracy, and readiness for finishing.
- Communicate material needs and assist with supply ordering or inventory tracking.
- Assist in meeting project deadlines by maintaining steady workflow and production support.
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces in accordance with safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or project leads.
- High School Diploma or GED; Technical training or certification in painting or fabrication or auto body work is a plus.
- 1-2 years Experience in industrial painting, fabrication support or autobody.
- Skilled in use of paint spraying equipment, sanding tools, grinders, and hand tools.
- Quality control and safety
- Ability to follow instructions and collaborate with warehouse door fabrication lead
- Excellent time management skills
- Paying attention to detail
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to production tasks.
- Experience with tooling, quality inspection, and assembly processes is beneficial.
