Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Financial Analyst to join our finance team. This role is responsible for providing financial planning, analysis, and reporting support with a strong focus on percent-of-completion (POC) accounting for long-term projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the utility industry and be comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, project management, and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Prepare and maintain accurate financial models and forecasts for projects using percent-of-completion methodology.
•Analyze project performance, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights and recommendations to management.
•Support weekly, monthly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
•Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to gather project progress data and ensure timely revenue recognition.
•Monitor project costs, schedules, and milestones to assess the impact on financial results.
•Assist with variance analysis and identify key drivers impacting financial performance.
•Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPIs for project financial health and performance tracking.
•Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and explanations related to POC accounting.
•Continuously evaluate processes and make recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the company.
Education and Professional Licensing or Certifications
•Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•3–5 years of financial analysis experience, including Percent-of-Completion accounting.
•Prior experience in the utility industry (electric, gas, water, or related infrastructure projects) is strongly preferred.
•Solid understanding of GAAP revenue recognition principles for long-term contracts.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
•Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
