Job Summary
Mountain Man Welding and Fabrication, Inc. provides high quality welding and fabrication services through our 3 core divisions: Field Welding, Shop Fabrication, and Custom Fabrication. The Field Welding Division specializes in the onsite welding of buried steel and stainless steel (water, steam, oil, gas, etc.) pipelines ranging from 1/2" to 146" in diameter, structural welding, bridge welding, specialty alloy welding, and process pipe fabrication/installation. All of our field welders are certified under AWS and ASME.
Responsibilities
•Schedule customer jobs and coordinate welder assignment of each job
•Mentors and assists field welders as needed.
•Promote, train and maintain a strong safety culture.
•Partner with Welding Supervisor to motivate and retain high value employees; build an effective team.
•Visit jobsites; Quality control of all projects.
•Maintain performance and quality of work within a safe environment.
•Responsible for maintaining excellent, above standard, safety practices
•Prepare all project submittals and submit to customer in a timely manner.
•Works collaboratively with management team to develop financial plans for the Field Division.
•Assists in setting operational goals for the Field Divisions.
•Work with Field Welding Division Estimator to increase sales and find new lines of business.
•Problem-solve and troubleshoot for clients and welders.
•Provide leadership and support to Welding Supervisor in safety, quality and production.
•Deliver oral and written communication to customers.
•Respond to phone calls and client requests within two hours.
•Responsible for tracking future projects on the Dodge Report, customer requests, etc.
•Work with accounting on invoice preparation.
•Review all contracts. Generate any change orders in a timely fashion.
•Cross-sell services of the shop.
•Participates in planning processes for Shop and Field as appropriate
•Performs all necessary supervisory functions to manage personnel effectively and efficiently
•Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel
•Determines, communicates, and holds staff accountable to performance standards
•Recommends salary adjustments, transfers, promotions, and dismissals of staff
•Ensures proper training of personnel assigned
•Provides guidance, leadership, and coaching to staff
•Maintains a favorable working relationship with staff, management team, and company executives
•Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business or equivalent
•5-7 years of welding and fabrication experience and/or industry knowledge of welded steel water pipeline construction
•5-7 years previous management experience, including forecasting, scheduling and real-time management, experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff
•Excellent communicator with both clients and internal staff. Must have the ability to have a tough conversation.
•Strong knowledge of construction site operations, including assembly, fabrication, and welding processes.
•Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
•Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
•Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
