POSITION/TITLE: Level 1 Field Technician POSITION LOCATION: Schulenburg, Texas Base / Nationwide POSITION TYPE / Expected Hours of Work: Full Time / Hourly DATE: Oct 2025
The Level 1 Field Technician is an entry-level field position designed for individuals new to pipeline integrity work. Under the guidance of experienced team members, this role supports hydro testing, pigging, rig up/down, surveying, tracking, and equipment preparation. It is designed as a training pathway toward Level 2 Technician certification.
- Assist with rig up and rig down of equipment including hoses, flanges, and temporary piping at job sites
- Help load/unload tools and equipment
- Observe and learn all aspects of HUS services including but not limited to surveying, tracking, pigging, hydro testing, separation, and flaring tasks
- Perform basic tracking using geophones and receivers with supervision
- Support field crew by preparing and organizing tools
- Participate in safety meetings and follow all job site protocols
- Complete basic paperwork and logs for job documentation
- Travel by driving or flying with field crews to projects throughout the U.S.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and always represent HUS in a professional manner
- Follow all job site safety protocols and exercise stop-work authority if needed
- Perform other reasonable job duties as assigned
- Safely drive a company truck while traveling nationwide
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- No pipeline experience required but a plus
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Must be willing to obtain TWIC card
- Complete company-provided safety training
- Ability to take test for job required operator qualifications
- Willingness to learn field equipment and procedures
- Basic computer literacy and basic function of: Excel, Google Sheets, Email and Delorme
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, and attention to detail
- Must pass DOT pre-employment drug test, and background screening
- Able to navigate safely and efficiently while driving to various locations on a map
- Able to safely operate a ¾ ton pickup and willing to learn how to pull an equipment trailer
- Ability to lift heavy loads, stand or sit for long periods, and work in various weather conditions
- Willingness to travel for extended periods and work varied shift schedules
- Must pass DOT drug test and background check
- Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Card
