Primary Purpose
Provides leadership and supervision of field operations employees at the district level within the Gas Operations organization.
Supervises and administers technical field support, assists with district budget oversight, repair and installation of pipeline, meters
and equipment. Responsible for system integrity to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures as well as Federal,
State, and local regulations.
Responsibilities/Duties
•Supervises Field Operations at the district level, to ensure compliance with functional guidelines, policy and
procedures, G.O.112-F, CFR-49, and Cal OSHA safety order requirements. Supports achieving the most
cost effective District operations and maintenance of gas facilities. Conducts field rides, audits and job
observations to ensure quality and performance expectations are met. Supervises Gas Operations
employees to ensure work is performed safely and is in compliance with Company policy, procedure and
governmental regulations.
•Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining effective safety programs focusing on
employee, customer and pipeline safety. Responsible for meeting or exceeding all Key Performance
Measures including; customer and builder satisfaction, cost savings, service and safety. Supports and
works with major programs including; DIMP, DRIP, SLIP, and PSEP.
•Acts as District point of contact for residential customers, public officials, first responders, pipeline and
other contractors.
Develops and maintains strong customer relations in order to resolve issues and problems, many involving
dissatisfied customers, CPUC complaints or other matters of a sensitive nature.
•Responds to and provides work direction during emergency outages, incidents and structure fires involving
gas facilities. Responsible for leading emergency response efforts including the development and
implementation of emergency response strategies and coordinating resources to optimally resolve all types
of emergency incidents, including natural disasters.
•Provides backup for Gas Operations Field Team Lead. Provides work direction to represented employees
and performance input to Field Team Lead. Deals effectively with employee labor relations problems, i.e.,
investigatory interviews and disciplinary actions.
•Responsible for assisting in the development and monitoring of the district budget.
•Provides interpretive counsel and information used in the managerial decision-making process. Generally
works with GO Field Team Lead to make recommendations as to the final course of action to be taken.
•Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Requirements:
Education
•Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, project management, or related field or equivalent field operations work experience and applicable field/technical training is preferred.
Experience
•3 years of relevant experience / Gas Operations Field is required.
•Demonstrated successful performance as a Field Supervisor or equivalent supervisory role is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Advanced knowledge of Gas Operations field work methods and tools. Knowledge of commercial and industrial field operations is required.
•Advanced knowledge of field safety policies and practices including emergency incident response, emergency communications, message center reporting and leak investigation is required.
•Advanced knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), labor practices, the ability to engage represented employees, deal effectively with performance problems, and thrive in a union environment is preferred.
•Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for Gas Operations is required.
•Ability to analyze complex data and manage complex projects is preferred.
•Listening, verbal, and written communication skills is preferred.
•Interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and demonstrated leadership ability to optimally work with employees at all levels as well as to lead and encourage a diverse workforce through a dynamic work environment is preferred.
•Ability to be versatile, quick problem solving, balance multiple demands, and ability to work optimally with a variety of individual personalities is preferred.
•Knowledge of company budgeting practices including financial systems such as SAP and Business Warehouse as well as knowledge of Click and MS Office is preferred.
Licenses & Certification
•Valid California Driver's License and DOT testing is required.

•Has on-call responsibilities.
