We are seeking a candidate with relevant experience as a Field Manager. As a Field Manager, the successful candidate will manage all on site aspects of our projects from start to finish. You will work along side our production team, drafting team, service team, installation crews and client teams. You will oversee and assist our service technicians on your projects. You will routinely deal with deficiencies and assist in solving problems as they arise. You will spend a significant amount of time at various construction sites throughout the GTA. On the job training will be provided.
Reports directly to Senior Management on all matters. The Field Manager oversees and directs all field construction aspects of his/her assigned projects. The Field Manager ensures the project meets all schedules in a timely manner. You will be the main connection between our job sites and our office. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Study and familiarize yourself with all aspects of the project, including: scope of work, shop drawings, project specific details. Identify any discrepancies or anticipated issues and resolve in a timely manner;
- Minimum of one site visit per project, per week;
- Schedule the Start-Up meeting with the Site Superintendent
- Perform site measurements/size checks, and provide to production department; Investigate any deviations from the approved drawings;
- Review all production documents and prep material lists;
- Provide a project orientation to the lead installer, reviewing layouts and required installation details;
- Ensure all safety related documents are provided to the site prior to start up;
- Ensure our Health & Safety consultant is conducting weekly reviews of the site and our installation practices. Follow up on any issues identified and ensure they are resolved;
- Arrange all site deliveries and hoist bookings;
- Ensure installers receive all prep material as required along with supplies like membrane, primer, fasteners etc;
- Coordinate the replacement of any parts that may be incorrect;
- Supervise the installation and ensure compliance with the approved shop drawings;
- Provide layout and/or assist installer with the layout. Identify and investigate any issues and provide solution;
- Complete QC review checklist after installation of every floor is completed. Resolve any outstanding issues/items;
- Perform walkthrough with site staff to obtain sign off on completed floors;
- Maintain photo log of project and installation work showing conformance to the details;
- Maintain a log of deficiencies and work with our service department, plant and installation crew to resolve;
- You will assist service technicians on site and/or perform minor repairs on site if needed;
- Arrange for any equipment required to complete work (scaffold, swing stages, aerial platforms);
- Maintain as built set of shop drawings to be updated at the end of the project;
- Review and log all site reports, meeting minutes and ensure any issues are dealt with;
- Resolve the concerns of the envelope consultant;
- Arrange repairs of deficiencies and review work of our service technicians. Prepare lists of all required parts;
- Arrange timely installation of screens prior to occupancy;
- 3-4 years of field management or project coordination experience in a related field;
- Architectural Technology, Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree/diploma is required;
- Detail oriented with the ability to read architectural drawings;
- Knowledgeable in the industry and familiar with the products and systems;
- Ability to identify and solve problems efficiently;
- Must have the ability to take site measurements, establish benchmarks, follow gridlines etc.
- Must be well versed in reading architectural and related drawings;
- On site work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks that require knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures and precautions
- Work environment requires having PPE for all site work and in certain other locations.
- At times requires driving a company vehicle to visit sites, clients or suppliers to pick up samples. Full Health and Safety training required (Working at Heights, WHMIS);
- Follow Health and Safety standards on site; and
- Flexible to work extra hours as required.
