Role
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the role of Field Engineer will play a crucial role in overseeing construction projects from the ground up. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Quality Officers, Safety, Fleet, subcontractors, and clients to ensure work is executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with the project specifications. This position calls for a detail-oriented and proactive individual who can effectively tackle challenges and ensure high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
•Provide technical support during the construction phase, ensuring compliance with project designs and specifications
•Review and interpret project drawings and specifications, offering feedback as necessary
•Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure proper execution of project tasks
•Support project managers in maintaining accurate documentation of project progress and challenges
•Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and resolve any issues that arise
•Prepare reports detailing project status, metrics, and outcomes
•Foster effective communication among team members to ensure smooth project operations
•Draft Requests for Information (RFIs) and liaise with clients for clarifications
•Attend daily meetings with clients and contractors, relaying project updates and feedback
•Participate in developing work packages, determining required materials and resources based on design specifications
•Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a high standard of quality in every task
•Complete and review all inspection sheets and safety documents. Scan to SharePoint and file all paperwork into the appropriate binders/files
•Maintain daily quality control from field activities to ensure staff are completing the provided QC Forms, Quantifying Pictures, and UTM Coordinates as per Inspection and Test Plan
•Update the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) once Field Quality Control Forms are completed, scanned, and filed within QC Binders
•Assistance in capturing and maintaining Data Books and Operation and Maintenance Books (O&M) project deliverables from a field perspective
•Check and update all equipment, trucks and test equipment on site for the shift. Maintain record including correct identification number, wash log, and calibration certificate of all equipment coming to and leaving the job site
•Print daily safety documents and timesheet form on daily basis for Foreman. Ensure documentation is returned and timesheet forms with updated daily notes, employee counts, LOA, and equipment information is entered into Time Control
Requirements
Qualifications
•A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required, or 4+ years working in a similar role within the High Voltage Construction industry
•1-3 years of experience in a field engineering or similar role
•Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety standards
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with large sets of data
•Experience with project management software such as Aconex is an asset
•Outstanding problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration
•Capability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
•Willingness to travel to various job sites as required
•Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
