During the Spring semester 2026, we are offering an opportunity for an individual aspiring to work with mechanical and electrical plant components. This opportunity will be in our Power Generation generating plants.
- Assisting with maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment of the generating unit at the assigned location. Includes Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controllers, smart field devices, and Distributed Control System (DCS) controls.
- Working with qualified I&C journeymen experienced in the maintenance of the power plant equipment.
- Utilizing drawings, prints, CAD systems, etc.
- Working with Operations personnel to understand and assist with the operation of power plant equipment.
- Working in a physical environment involving climbing, bending and lifting of heavy power plant equipment, and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasionally working outdoors and during inclement weather.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Have permission of the Program Coordinator or Division Dean.
- Must be enrolled at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College
- Seeking degree in Electronics Engineering Technology; Industrial Electronics Technology; General Technology (Mechatronics – Primary; Industrial Maintenance – Secondary
Students applying for these co-op positions must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be enrolled as a student at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in a program leading to an associate degree.
- Must be studying Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, or Genral Technology (Mechatronics)
- Have at least a 3.0 overall grade point average.
- Graduation date of fall 2026 to fall 2027
Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
