Due to growth and expansion, Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Fabricator/Welder at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

The Fabricator/Welder reports to the Mobile Maintenance Leading Hand, and the primary role is to support the maintenance team in the repair and maintenance of mobile equipment by performing a high standard of fabrication and welding within the Maintenance department.
- Perform a high standard of fabrication and welding execution, all work completed in a safe and timely manner.
- Provide technical advice and support to fellow Maintenance Team members.
- Ensure workmanship through meeting standards, tolerances and testing of equipment prior to handover.
- Ensure effective communication and handover between crews with regard to maintenance plans and issues.
- Identify correct parts and equipment for all planned and unplanned jobs as necessary.
- Ensure all tasks and procedures complies with environmental standards.
- Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Highlight equipment defects and issues effectively utilising the maintenance management process.
- Rigorous cost management - avoid rework and the unnecessary use of parts and services.
- Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard ID's, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.

- Fabrication / welding certification
- Minimum 10 years practical experience as a fabricator/welder - mining industry preferred.
- Experience in line-boring and machining.
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- Experience in the practical application of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
- Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.
Working a 3 week on, 3 week off schedule of straight days, 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
