Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Exploration General Supervisor, Hope Bay you will be part of the Exploration Department. In this role, you will maintain a strong on-site presence, actively engaging with teams to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Your responsibilities will include providing technical expertise, preparing performance reports, analyzing workplace hazards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will also implement and support health and safety management systems, conduct site inspections, facilitate incident investigations, and deliver safety training, all while fostering a positive safety culture through direct, hands-on involvement. By being present and proactive in the field, you will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
•Provide leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards and regulations in the exploration department
•Develop and maintain relationships with exploration teams, operations health and safety, contractors, and stakeholders to provide health and safety guidance, participate in performance monitoring, activity reporting, and all required reporting to WSCC
•Use performance data to drive improvement initiatives, manage health and safety systems (INTELEX), and support exploration with their annual goals and objectives
•Engage in programs to monitor and control workplace hazards, perform regular field visits to ensure best practices and policies are being followed, and lead incident investigations (ICAM, 5-Whys), Bowtie and root cause analysis, facilitate and review risk assessments for exploration related tasks
•Manage and deliver safety training programs and ensure accurate and comprehensive training records are maintained, promote a positive health and safety culture, and support the Internal Responsibility System
•Communicate updates to policies, regulations, and safety standards
•Travel to other Agnico Eagle Nunavut exploration sites as needed to support Exploration teams
What You Need To Succeed
•Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a Health and Safety related discipline
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, resource sector is an asset
•Knowledge of the Nunavut Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and both construction & mining regulations is an asset
•Experience with Health and Safety management system software and safety methodologies (Intelex, ICAM investigation methodology, Bowtie Risk Assessments)
•Knowledge of Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) is an asset
•Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power Bi
•Effective communication skills in English (both oral and written)
•Experience in an arctic climate, and multicultural environment is an asset
Your Work Schedule
•Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Edmonton, Alberta, or Yellowknife, NWT
•Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from Hope Bay Project and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada
