Job Overview:
A Line Operator at a zinc electroplating facility is responsible for operating and maintaining the production line used in the electroplating process. This role involves ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality plating operations while adhering to production schedules, safety standards, and quality control protocols. The position typically includes physical tasks, technical oversight, and process monitoring to ensure the finished products meet the required specifications.
Job Responsibilities
•Set up, operate, and monitor electroplating equipment, including tanks, conveyors, and racks.
•Adjust machine settings (voltage, current, chemical concentrations) to meet plating requirements.
•Start and stop the production line as needed to maintain workflow.
•Inspect materials and components for quality before and after plating.
•Monitor the plating process to ensure consistent coating thickness, adhesion, and surface finish.
•Record production data, including cycle times, plating thickness, and operational parameters.
•Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of plated components to meet quality standards.
•Perform basic testing (e.g., adhesion or thickness tests) to confirm product compliance.
•Address and resolve any quality issues or process deviations.
•Prepare and maintain plating solutions by mixing chemicals according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
•Monitor and adjust chemical levels in tanks to maintain optimal operating conditions.
•Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
•Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
•Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment to prevent downtime.
•Troubleshoot equipment issues, make minor repairs, or escalate to maintenance teams as necessary.
•Report equipment malfunctions and participate in preventive maintenance programs.
•Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and workplace safety standards.
•Participate in safety drills and training sessions.
•Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and schedules.
•Optimize workflow to reduce waste and maximize productivity.
•Identify areas for process improvement and communicate suggestions to supervisors.
•Documentation and Reporting:
•Maintain accurate records of production metrics, material usage, and quality inspections.
•Prepare reports on production output, downtime, and quality issues.
•Assist in audits related to quality and compliance.
•Work closely with other operators, technicians, and supervisors to coordinate activities.
•Provide training or guidance to new operators as needed.
•Participate in team meetings to discuss production goals and performance.
