Position Title: Estimator

Summary
The Estimator analyzes project specifications, prepares cost estimates, and develops bid strategies for structural steel projects. This role collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive bids while supporting a smooth transition from bid to execution.
Responsibilities
•Analyze contract drawings, specifications, bid manuals, bid forms, and other documentation to prepare material, shop & erection labor estimates, buyouts, and unit prices using Tekla Powerfab.
•Understand different levels of design information throughout the bidding process as projects evolve through multiple pricing rounds.
•Consult with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve bid-related challenges and develop optimal solutions.
•Collaborate with Sales to assess project size, scope, timelines, and deadlines, developing bid strategies for seamless project execution.
•Delegate and track assigned tasks to other estimators or internal departments for a comprehensive bid submission.
•Evaluate scope of work and coordinate with Sales and the Estimating Assistant to submit buyout bid packages, analyze sub-quotes, and assist in vendor/subcontractor selection.
•Work closely with preconstruction and project management teams on self-perform erection estimates, including obtaining equipment quotes, crane sizing, logistics planning, and scheduling.
•Partner with sub-erectors to coordinate execution plans, scope of work, scheduling, logistics, and other project details.
•Assist Sales in preparing proposal letters, specific exclusions/clarifications, scope of work, and bid forms.
•Develop cost summaries and project recaps, presenting findings to the Chief Estimator, Sales, and Executives.
•Support Sales and the Chief Estimator in project turnover/kickoff meetings, ensuring a smooth transition from Sales to Operations.
Education & Experience
•Associate’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
•Minimum 5+ years of experience estimating large/complex structural steel projects.
•Proficiency in Tekla EPM for labor and material takeoff preferred.
•Experience with Trimble Connect and Tekla Structures preferred.
•Familiarity with Qnect Connection Design Software is a plus.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, MS Project, scheduling software).
•Experience using Bluebeam Revu for document markups and comparisons.
•Experience with Bluebeam Studio for collaborative workflows preferred.
