What We Are Looking For

GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Equipment Operator I to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As an Equipment Operator I, you will help with patrolling, mowing, spraying brush and trimming transmission and distribution lines using tractors, rangers, bucket trucks and chain saws

Your Pay

The minimum starting pay for this role is $20.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.

How You’ll Help

- Assist the Vegetation Management Team in meeting the daily work schedule, goals and tasks

- Drive and operate trucks and equipment

- Work under supervision to operate various pieces of equipment such as chainsaws, weed eaters, tractors and mowing equipment

- Haul materials to and from locations

- Clear right-of-way for new construction sites

- Assist Line Crews as needed

- Wash and clean vehicles and equipment as needed

- Perform fence repair and gate installation

Experience/Skills You’ll Need

- Must have knowledge of safety precautions of motorized equipment and vehicles according to the policies of GVEC

- Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic

- Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL within six months of start date

- Demonstrate the ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment

- Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team

- Ideal candidate must be able to work under adverse conditions, handle temperature extremes and be willing to work overtime as well as in urgent situations as needed

- Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and carry a backpack to perform specific duties within the Vegetation department

Preferred Experience/Skills

- Be able to understand the load chart on the equipment while operating

- Recognizing energized parts, clearances, rubber glove usage and vehicle grounding

- Knowledge of GVEC spec books

- Basic computer skills to navigate locations through GVEC’s mapping system

- CDL Driver’s License
