We are seeking an Entry Level HVAC/Plumbing Mechanical Engineer to provide capability in the design and analysis of HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Load estimating utilizing computer software simulation (Trane Trace 3D Plus or Carrier Hap). Includes knowledge of meeting outdoor air requirements for indoor air quality, and general understanding of internal heat loads (i.e. lights, computers, equipment, etc.).
- Perform LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Analysis) calculations to determine the LCCE
- Application and selection of various types of HVAC equipment including air handling units, fans, coils, condensing units, and furnaces.
- Design and layout of commercial and industrial duct systems including supply, return, exhaust, ventilation, and dust collection systems.
- Knowledge of cleaning/filtration systems for high purity areas like labs and data centers.
- General knowledge of HVAC system controls desirable.
- General knowledge of plumbing design. This would include general knowledge of the plumbing code and specific requirements for sanitary sewer and vent piping design, and domestic hot and cold-water piping design.
- Development of construction document packages based on the project requirements and application. This shall include project coordination with other disciplines (structural, architectural, electrical) and checking project construction documents.
- Selecting and editing job specific equipment and materials specifications in CSI Master Specs, SpecsIntact, and the Unified Facilities Criteria.
- Attending internal project meetings to clearly understand project scope requirements, be aware of deliverable schedule, and coordinate with other disciplines. Includes project review meetings, construction meetings, and project closeout meetings.
- May include site visits and site walkdowns.
- Required to be efficient in Revit modeling all types of HVAC and plumbing systems.· Government and/or VA Hospital project experience is a Plus.
· US Citizen required per the requirements of government clients.
· Language – Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively speak and present information one-on-one and before small groups of clients or employees of the organization.
· Math - Ability to comprehend and apply general mathematical concepts.
· Reasoning - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Judgement and Decision-Making – Detailed written or oral instructions or pre-established guidelines are provided. Work is relatively routine and carried out as generally instructed. Work is closely monitored and frequently checked while in progress. Minimal discretion is applied as to how to perform the work.
· Physical demands and working conditions are those of a typical office environment, including sitting and using a computer for extended periods of time. Physical effort such as lifting, pulling or pushing is generally not required. Position requires close vision, namely for use of computer and reviewing documents.
