This is the second level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. This specific Distribution Design position is responsible for supporting the Highway Relocation Portfolio, which could include NCDOT and/or City of Charlotte (Development Services, CDOT, Stormwater Services, Charlotte Water etc.) Distribution relocation projects in the Central Zone Asset Design Organization. This position is expected to collaborate positively with Area Operations Support groups including DTUG Engineering, and Zone Engineering as well as other internal stakeholders including the Highway Relocation Program team, Resource Planning and Scheduling, Construction Management, Government and Community Relations, Environmental Health and Safety, Land Services, and Legal as needed. Engineering Technologist II applies technical expertise to solve more complex problems and management skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop deeper technical skills and the ability to work with an increasing degree of independence.
Responsibilities

•Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
•Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
•Maintains accurate records and files.
•Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
•Provides storm support as needed.
Basic/Required Qualifications (Engineering Technologist II)
•Either a graduate from a college or university with Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 2+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or High School Diploma/GED and 6+ years equivalent experience
Desired Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
•Maximo & Pole Foreman experience strongly preferred
Additional Preferred Qualifications
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build cooperative working relationships across multiple levels of the organization and across departmental boundaries
•Broad knowledge of distribution systems, standards & equipment, and associated safety policies, practices, and procedures
•Effective problem solving and analytical skills
•Knowledge of Environmental and Health & Safety (i.e. Environmental Checklists)
•Experience in the utility industry.
•Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
•Good written and oral communication skills.
•Understanding of basic principles of project management.
Working Conditions
•Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
