8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday
Under supervision of the Commission’s Staff Engineer, performs a variety of work including administrative work relating to engineering design, cross connection control and construction observation/inspection of utility projects associated with the Commission’s system.
- Performs data management and filing support for engineering
- Assist with administrative duties for the Commission’s Cross-Connection/Backflow Program
- Review and edit engineering documents such as letters, reports, tables, etc. to ensure quality control and consistency
- Assist with inspections of Commission and private construction projects for compliance with plans, specifications and regulations
- Collect and enter information into the Commission’s GIS system
- Participate in pre-construction conferences with contractors
- Correspond with developers, engineers, and contractors with regards to potential and ongoing projects
- Assists with overseeing special projects related to the Commission’s Engineering Department
- High School diploma
- Possession of a valid S.C. Driver’s License
- Ability to understand and carry out both written and oral instructions relative to general utility systems construction work
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, and the public
- Ability to make decisions using good sound judgment in matters pertaining to construction procedures
- Proficient in using Windows operating system, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook
- Must have knowledge and understanding of appropriate safety procedures and be able to respond in emergency situations
- Professional demeanor and good communication skills with the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills (record keeping, time management, follow-up, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, sense of urgency, and an ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality and accuracy of work
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deal with interruptions while meeting timely deadlines
Two (2) year degree in Engineering Technology, Business Administration or other related associate’s degree
Greater than two (2) years of experience
