We're seeking an experienced and strategic
Engineering Managerto lead our OSP design team and oversee the successful execution of fiber network engineering projects across multiple markets. This role requires strong leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of outside plant (OSP) engineering principles. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, driving design quality, supporting operational goals, and aligning engineering efforts with broader company objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of OSP engineers and technical staff, providing direction, mentorship, and performance oversight;
- Oversee the full project lifecycle for multiple OSP fiber network design initiatives, ensuring on-time delivery, quality standards, and budget adherence;
- Serve as the primary technical authority and escalation point for complex design challenges, regulatory compliance, and engineering decisions;
- Collaborate with senior leadership, project management, and cross-functional teams to align engineering output with client requirements and company goals;
- Review and approve high-level and detailed fiber design packages including route analysis, splice points, and construction documentation;
- Establish and enforce design standards, QA/QC procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects;
- Support resource planning, workload distribution, and staffing needs to meet project demand;
- Facilitate training, development, and knowledge-sharing across the engineering team;
- Interface with clients during pre-construction meetings, design reviews, and status updates to provide technical guidance and build strong relationships;
- Leverage engineering software platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Katapult, etc.) to oversee design workflows and ensure data integrity;
- Monitor project risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in OSP fiber network engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role;
- Proven track record of managing engineering teams and delivering large-scale design projects across diverse geographies;
- Strong knowledge of FTTH/FTTP network architecture, including centralized and distributed split designs;
- Proficiency with engineering and GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Vetro, 3-GIS, IQGeo, or similar;
- Comprehensive knowledge of permitting processes, regional design standards, and construction practicality;
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills in both in-person and remote environments;
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively;
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, GIS, or a related field required
- Experience leading design projects for major carriers such as AT&T, Lumen, Verizon, or Frontier;
- Familiarity with BEAD, RDOF, or other federally funded broadband programs;
- Knowledge of pole loading analysis, joint-use coordination, and easement/right-of-way planning;
- PMP, PE, or other relevant certifications are a plus
