- Documentation and Reporting: You’ll record and analyze test data and statistical data. You’ll assist in updating and maintaining engineering records and files as well as preparing and documenting cost estimates.
- Project Support: You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers while assisting in the planning, designing, and execution of projects. You’ll also assist in preparing memoranda, engineering reports and presentations.
- Field Work: You may occasionally participate in field visits to operational facilities where you’ll gain knowledge and understanding of power system operations as well as assist in performing inspections and tests.
- Learning and Development: You’ll actively participate in training sessions and knowledge building projects. Many of the duties you’ll perform will be under direct supervision or assisting others. In this role, you’ll take on new challenges allowing you to utilize and expand your engineering skills.
- Gain Knowledge: You’ll embrace AEP’s safety culture as you begin to understand safety guidelines and standards in both the office and field environment.

Intern Student Engineer (Grade Intern): Pay commensurate with education/experience
- Mid-Point: $23.50/HR
- Education: Completion of freshman year in a four (4) year Engineering Program recognized by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Genuine interest in the electric utility sector, energy efficiency and sustainability practices
- Effective time management skills
