Summary
As an Engineer at Oncor you will provide technical support to the Transmission Operations organization to resolve operational issues, develop and refine maintenance processes and procedures, and analyze existing operations to improve the reliability and operational efficiency of the transmission system. The Transmission Operations Engineer will direct and monitor activities and employees to maintain the integrity of the transmission system.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent:
•Provide technical assistance to the Transmission Operations organization to support the operations and maintenance of transmission facilities. This will require the use of multiple engineering disciplines and practices.
•Communicate, coordinate, and interface with other areas of the Company and with others external to the Company to resolve operational issues.
•Assist in investigation and review of service interruptions and/or equipment failures and make recommendations to improve system reliability and performance.
•Assist with preparation of plans and operating actions needed to ensure compliance with Reliability Standards consistent with good engineering practices and personnel and public safety requirements. Effectively document these plans and operating actions and present them to management for approval.
•Analyze resources and processes based on evolving Oncor and regulatory requirements, recommend improvements to management, and assist with implementation of necessary changes.
•Effectively manage a significant number of assignments while maintaining work quality, reliability, and volume.
•Direct and coordinate the work assignments of multiple employees in providing technical services related to the transmission system.
•Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Education, Experience, & Skills
Education
•Required- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering.
•EIT/FE certification preferred.
•Current Professional Engineer license is required for the Senior Engineer position.
Skills
•Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
•Experience developing presentations using Microsoft Power Point is beneficial.
•Very good oral and written communication skills are required. Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, managers and officers internal and external to the company.
•Must organize own work and set priorities to meet critical deadlines.
•Proficiency working as an individual contributor and a team member is expected.
•Ability to analyze complex technical problems and identify the best solution consistent with reliability standards, legal, regulatory, code. RTO Protocols, and other requirements is required.
•Proficiency with substation physical and electrical design work
Experience
•Engineer – Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience is preferred.
•Engineer Staff – Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience is preferred.
•Engineer Senior – 6+ years of relevant engineering experience is preferred and requires to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas.
