Position Overview: Join our manufacturing team as an Engineering Intern! This hands-on role immerses you in the heart of modern manufacturing processes. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining practical experience with Designing for Manufacturing, Cost Estimating, Print Creation, and many other Engineering support functions in stamping, press brake operations, laser cutting, and welding operations. Whether you’re refining your skills in design or eager to troubleshoot operational challenges, you’ll play a vital role in supporting process development and improvement.
Process Support: Assist in the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes involving stamping, press brake, laser operations, welding, riveting, and additional techniques.
Technical Drawing & Drafting: Utilize and update technical drawings and schematics with a strong understanding of GD&T principles. Work with drafting tools such as AutoCAD, DraftSight, and 3D modeling applications like SolidWorks or equivalent to ensure design accuracy and efficiency.
Data & Reporting: Develop, maintain, and analyze reports and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office—especially Excel. Leverage your expertise to support data-driven decision-making and process optimization.
Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production in cross-functional teams to coordinate project tasks, schedule work, and document improvements. Provide input during design reviews and assist in troubleshooting manufacturing challenges.
Documentation & Communication: Assist in creating clear, concise documentation for manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures, ensuring that all work aligns with quality and safety standards.
Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with diverse manufacturing processes such as stamping, press brake operations, laser cutting, welding, riveting, spot welding, resistance welding, robotics, and paint are all a plus.
Experience with drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD or DraftSight) and 3D modeling tools (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent).
Experience with both obtaining dimensions and reference data from models, as well as reading and interpreting complex assembly prints.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formula creation, pivot tables, and data analysis techniques.
Drafting Experience: Intermediate to advanced drafting skills are preferred to aid with design and documentation tasks.
Educational Background: Formal degree is not required. Current enrollment in an accredited ABET Engineering School preferred. Candidates with technical training, certifications, or demonstrable hands-on experience are encouraged to apply.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, clear communication, and an eagerness to learn in a team-oriented environment.
Prior exposure or internships in manufacturing or mechanical design environments.
A demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software tools and technical concepts.
Experience with data analysis and process improvement initiatives is a plus.
