Reporting to the Manager, Technical Support, Quality and Emerging Applications, the incumbent is responsible for performing engineering consulting studies and provide technical support of all MHI software products, primarily PSCAD™/EMTDC™. In addition, they will be involved in developing new tools and methodology to enhance existing products as well as study procedures. Specific responsibilities include:
- Participate in engineering consulting study projects as directed by the Manager, Technical Support, Quality and Emerging Applications. The incumbent is expected to develop expertise in relevant software platforms including MHI’s proprietary software applications.
- Perform due diligence on data provided by the client.
- Developing study methodologies, software model development and performing studies.
- Preparing technical reports that effectively communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
- Participate in regular team and client meetings.
- Providing technical support to users of our software products, ensuring timely resolution of issues with clear communication.
- Engaging in software testing, including debugging, troubleshooting, and validating performance to enhance product reliability.
- Develop and nurture working relationships with team members, participating on project teams and providing input to team and own work processes. Within key areas of responsibility, expected to lead, provide back-up support, and prepare standard process documentation.
- Graduate in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University
- A minimum of two years of experience in a related engineering field is preferred (Power generation, transmission, or distribution).
- A B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with distinction, MSc, or PhD in a relevant field is an additional benefit.
- Must be a registered professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (formerly APEGM)
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer programs intended for power system simulation.
- Be self-motivated and have strong inter-personal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Have a demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate, and instruct seminars and formal courses.
- Mature judgment, discretion, and ability to work harmoniously in a team setting.

Hours Worked: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30p.m. (8 hours/day on a 9-day bi-weekly cycle)
