Job description: JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineer, Generation Construction Expansion is accountable for researching, developing, and implementing tasks, methodologies, and practices for the corporation. As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position is responsible for overseeing generation construction to ensure project designs, specifications, and standards are met. This position will prepare or review technical studies, business cases, designs, specifications, and construction drawings, and provide field inspection, contract management, and site construction coordination services, ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Learn and become familiar with assigned technical tasks, methodologies, and practices• Supervise, coordinate and provide technical assistance for construction of power generation facilities. Perform technical and economic analysis of alternative solutions for project business cases, and make recommendations on courses of action• Provide construction oversight to ensure works are executed safely, efficiently and correctly in accordance with industrial standard and applicable codes • Provide and demonstrate safety and environmental leadership• Develop criteria, guidelines, standards, and new practices based upon codes, technologies, and methodologies• Provide direction to technologists, technicians, consultants, and management staff and other external agencies as required. • Provide assistance to oversee and monitor construction schedule, cost and progress. • Other related duties as assigned

NOTES• Engineer-In-Training applications will be accepted and may be considered for this position• If the successful applicant appointed to this position is an EIT, the key accountabilities as well as knowledge/skills/abilities will align with the job description and expectations of an Engineer-In-Training. The applicant will retain the title of Engineer-In-Training and remain compensated at that level until such a time that they are eligible for a Professional Engineer position either through bidding or P. Eng designation process.
