We are looking for an early-career Electrical Engineer to join our Tallgrass Project Engineering team. This role offers hands-on exposure to pipeline systems, compressor stations, terminals, substations, and motor control centers supporting Major projects. Candidates with 0 to 5 years of experience will excel in this position by contributing to a diverse range of projects, from concept to execution.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Support the design, specification, and analysis of electrical systems, including substations, MW switchgear, LV Motor control centers, load analysis, and instrumentation that supports rotating equipment
•Assist in project execution, from feasibility and front-end engineering to construction support and commissioning
•Perform calculations, material selection, and electrical integrity assessments
•Work closely with project managers, field personnel, and vendors to ensure technical accuracy and safety compliance
•Participate in inspections, failure analysis, and reliability improvements of mechanical systems
•Prepare engineering deliverables such as datasheets, reports, and drawing reviews
•Follows prescribed procedures and conducts analyses to develop design options or recommendations
•Will work non-traditional hours as needed
•This role will be up to 80% travel
Minimum Requirements:
•Recent graduates or those anticipating graduation as late as summer 2025 are encouraged to apply.
•Self-directed with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•Demonstrated interest in the Oil and Gas industry through academic projects, extracurricular activities, or internships.
•Experience in the Oil and Gas sector or heavy industry, including co-op and internship experience, is advantageous but not required.
•Willingness to travel regularly to project sites, manufacturing facilities, company offices, and training locations.
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related field.
•0 to 5 years of mechanical engineering experience (internships or co-ops in oil & gas are a plus)
•Familiarity with electrical equipment used in pipeline or terminal operations
•Working knowledge of CAD and engineering analysis tools (voltage drop, conduit fill, ohms law, and general electrical engineering calculations)
•Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and a proactive mindset
•Ability to work in both office and field environments as needed
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
•Exposure to midstream project work or operations support
•Experience with pump or compressor station design
•Root cause analysis or mechanical integrity experience
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
•Knowledge of basic Engineering principles
•Knowledge of the NEC/NFPA 70E
•Works under direct supervision but displays initiative and moves toward requiring less supervision.
•Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
