Powertek Global is seeking a qualified Energy Engineer to lead energy assessments and provide technical support to Maine public schools under the Green Schools Program. The selected candidate will guide schools in evaluating existing energy systems, identifying sustainable alternatives, and supporting procurement decisions to drive cost savings and carbon reductions.
Key Responsibilities:
•Conduct onsite energy assessments of school facilities (HVAC, lighting, envelope, etc.)
•Analyze energy consumption data and benchmark performance
•Identify inefficiencies and recommend viable clean energy upgrades
•Prepare cost-benefit and lifecycle analyses for proposed solutions
•Support the development of energy procurement strategies
•Collaborate with school leaders, project managers, and public stakeholders
•Contribute to technical reports, public presentations, and documentation
•Ensure compliance with state and federal energy standards
•Travel to school sites across Maine as requiredQualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering (or related field)
•5+ years of experience in energy auditing, system design, or energy efficiency consulting
•Familiarity with HVAC, lighting systems, building envelope analysis, and renewable technologies
•Experience with cost modeling and lifecycle analysis tools
•Strong understanding of federal/state funding and energy performance contracting
•Excellent communication and technical writing skills
•Maine-based certification or licensure (or willingness to obtain) is a strong assetPreferred:
•Experience working with K–12 public schools or government clients
•Knowledge of Efficiency Maine Trust, IIJA, or IRA-related programs
