While enthusiasm for sustainability is important, success in this role depends on your ability to engage with small businesses in the field and drive participation through direct, face-to-face sales. As an Energy Assessor, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Save on Energy Small Business Program, a province-wide initiative that helps small businesses reduce their carbon footprint through efficient lighting and other energy-saving upgrades.
Join the Small Business Program (SBP), part of the transformative Save On Energy initiatives. You'll help them identify and retrofit inefficient lighting and non-lighting systems, all while providing free assessments that could unlock up to $3,000 in lighting incentives and $2,500 in non-lighting incentives!
- Travel within assigned areas to conduct on-site energy assessments for small businesses
- Educate business owners about energy-saving opportunities and available incentives through the Save on Energy program.
- Use a sales-based approach to build rapport and encourage participation in energy-saving upgrades
- Provide clear, accurate, and engaging information to various businesses, including retail, restaurants, offices, and more.
- Maintain exceptional customer service standards while supporting meaningful climate solutions at the community level.
This role is especially well-suited for recent graduates or individuals interested in green careers, sustainability, or gaining real-world experience in the energy and environmental sectors.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience — environmental science, sustainability, energy systems, or related fields is an asset
- Previous sales or outreach experience preferred
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are assets
- Comfortable leading conversations, presenting information, and educating others about sustainable energy solutions
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate; ability to use tablets and mobile tools for reporting and assessment
- Multilingual skills are a plus, but not required
