If you have a keen eye for detail, enjoy hands-on work with electronics, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we have an exciting opportunity for an Electronic Test Technician to join our team in Lindsay, ON. This is a 15-month maternity leave coverage position. Our core business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (may vary depending on the role). This position is ideal for someone who is eager to make a meaningful impact, support product quality through precise testing, and contribute to the development of reliable and high-performing electronic systems.


General Description:

Under the general direction of the VP of Operations, the Electronic Test Technician is responsible for executing tasks in accordance with contractual requirements while identifying opportunities for process enhancements and additional services or products. This role encompasses the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure operational efficiency. The technician not only ensures the reliability and performance of electronic systems but also plays a key role in the continuous improvement of processes and services, ultimately driving operational excellence and meeting high-quality standards.


Characteristics, Features, Requirements:

As a Meter Service Centre Electronic Test Technician, you will be expected to work independently while thoroughly understanding and following CARMA’s Quality and Health & Safety Manuals. You will demonstrate your technical proficiency by completing all assigned responsibilities accurately and on time, contributing to the quality of service and operational efficiency.


Reporting:

The Electronic Test Technician reports directly to the Supervisor, Meter Service Centre.


Important and Essential Duties:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:


Electronic Test Technician Responsibilities

Testing circuit boards to ensure functionality and adherence to quality standards;
Performing component level repair on circuit boards;
Acting as a back up for Meter Assembly and Testing operations;
Implementing the requirements outlined in S-E-02 standards;
Assembling and testing potential transformers, current transformers and related electronics;
Managing Meter Assembly and Test inventory;
Reviewing configurations for completeness and accuracy;
Verifying and addressing any discrepancies in submissions;
Conducting testing and preparing documentation for new circuit boards and RMA (Return Material Authorization) circuit boards;
Servicing CBSI meters, accurately reporting conditions found and collaborating to develop solutions (weekly meetings);
Maintain detailed records of all tasks performed;
Completing the Technician Training Program and providing feedback for continuous improvement.


Experience/Knowledge/Ability

Proficiency in using meters, scopes, and other test equipment for production testing and calibration, with willingness to learn and adapt;
Capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team, adjusting to the needs of the situation;
Competence in using software such as Microsoft Office 365 (specifically Word and Excel) for documentation and reporting;
Knowledge of Meter Shop requirements under a Quality Assurance Program e.g., handling Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs);
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks;
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to identify issues and develop effective solutions;
Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electronics down to the component level;
Proactive attitude toward learning and continuous improvement, with a readiness to offer suggestions for process enhancements;
Excellent manual dexterity, enabling precision in technical tasks;
Good vision and strong hand-eye coordination, critical for working with intricate components and assemblies.


Qualifications

Post-secondary education, ideally in electronics or a related field;
Experience in prototyping, design and verification, with knowledge of Measurement Canada regulations and compliance with product safety and environmental standards;
Proficiency in reading and interpreting assembly drawings to accurately assemble products.


Working Conditions

Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control devices;
Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently;
Flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally to meet project deadlines.
