Position Summary:
The Electronic Technician 2 is a mid-level role responsible for independently performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment and systems used in hydraulic fracturing operations. This technician provides technical expertise and support to ensure all electronic components, including sensors, control systems, communication devices, and monitoring systems, operate efficiently and safely.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
•Installs, configures, and tests electronic systems and devices on fracturing equipment, including control panels, sensors, communication systems, and monitoring devices.
•Ensures proper setup and integration of electronic components with mechanical systems, working collaboratively with engineers and other team members.
•Conducts regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electronic equipment with minimal supervision.
•Diagnoses and resolves issues with electronic components, wiring, and circuits, using advanced diagnostic tools and software.
•Provides guidance and support to junior technicians in identifying and fixing electronic system issues.
•Monitors electronic systems during fracturing operations to ensure optimal performance and provide technical support to the operations team.
•Calibrates electronic instruments and control systems to maintain accuracy and reliability, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
•Maintains detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance.
•Adheres to all safety protocols and guidelines during the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems.
•Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies related to electronic systems in fracturing operations.
•Participates in safety meetings, training, and emergency response drills as required.
•Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of all electronic systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
•Prepares detailed technical reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and issues encountered.
•Assists in developing procedures and best practices for electronic system maintenance and repair.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
•Associate's degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
•2-4 years of experience in electronic maintenance and repair, preferably in the oil and gas or energy sector.
•Experience with hydraulic fracturing equipment is strongly preferred.
•Proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
•Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex issues.
•Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, and other industrial control systems.
•Ability to mentor and guide junior technicians, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
•Excellent communication and documentation skills.
•Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, IPC, etc.) are a plus.
•Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
Working Conditions:
•Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
•The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
•Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
•Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
•Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
•React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
•Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
•Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
•Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
•Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
