Major Duties/Responsibilities:
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment, electrical distribution systems, Motor Control Stations and other equipment with AC and DC voltages at 120 V and higher. Responsibilities may include various electrical monitoring instruments for electrical system monitoring in the power plant and the associated facilities. The Electrical Technician performs work of high skill in inspection repair, testing, calibration, installation and removal of associated equipment as well as maintaining and using appropriate electrical diagnostic equipment needed for troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance and repairs.
•Take proactive ownership in the plant safety activities and advise as needed on electrical safety improvement and if needed, training.
•Monitor facility electrical process and associated control equipment for proper operation.
•Troubleshoot problems associated with electrical systems components.
•Install new electrical equipment and systems for plant modifications and improvements.
•Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility electrical equipment to include variable frequency drives, motors, starters, etc.
•Maintain preventative maintenance records for electrical equipment.
•Maintain inventory control of electrical spare parts.
•Maintaining and troubleshooting air conditioning equipment.
•Work closely with the Maintenance Technician and the I&C Technician.
•Assist with scheduling and coordinating outside contractor work on electrical equipment.
•Demonstrate proficiency with common test instruments to include the Fluke, Megger, Signal Generator, Amprobe, etc.
•Demonstrate proficiency in reading electrical schematics and diagrams.
•Participate in required company safety training.
•Agree to participate in and maintain required courses for ARC flash safety and maintain the appropriate credentials as required by OSHA and other regulatory agency’s.
•Act as a team member with all employees; comply with all NE Renewable Power policies and procedures.
•Must be able to be On-Call (24/7), respond to plant phone calls and, if required, mobilize to the plant to assist with emergency’s.
Skills/Experience/requirements:
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
•Graduation from an accredited Electrical Technician Program or two years of work experience as a technician in a related industry.
•Experience in working with voltages ranges from 120 V to 115 KV is highly desirable.
•Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
•Basic data entry/computer skills
•Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
•Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
•Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and can work without direct supervision.
•Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
•Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all the business challenges.
Work Environment: Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
•Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirator air masks (tight seal), ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
•Appropriately rated ARC flash protective PPE
•Work with hazardous materials may be required.
•40 hour weeks are standard but this role will require extended working hours, as needed. Weekend and holiday work are typically non-working days but can be occasionally needed as required by the plant operation. Therefore, On-Call status (day and night) may be required.
•Includes working indoors and outdoors.
•Includes working around high temperature liquids, steam and high voltage equipment.
Physical requirements commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
•Physical requirements include the possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds.
•Must be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
•All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, motor vehicle verification, and background check. Post-employment screenings include annual audiogram and respirator fit testing (tight seal).
+ Fit test requires minimal facial hair to maintain a proper seal.
•There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
