We are seeking an experienced and safety-minded Electrician Lead to oversee underground electrical distribution (URD) work and ensure safe, efficient, and quality execution of projects. This role involves hands-on troubleshooting, operation of specialized equipment, and leadership of field crews in support of construction, maintenance, and repair activities. The Electrician Lead will be responsible for guiding daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and mentoring team members.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Perform basic and advanced electrical troubleshooting on URD systems.
- Utilize specialized fault-finding equipment to locate cable faults and identify issues in underground systems.
- Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and load testing.
- Field Operations
- Operate and oversee use of bucket trucks, diggers, and trenching equipment.
- Direct crews in safe excavation, backfilling, and conduit/cable installation.
- Perform splicing, terminations, and connections on underground electrical cables.
- Install, maintain, and repair transformers, switchgear, and other URD components.
- Safety & Compliance
- Lead daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and tailboard safety meetings.
- Enforce company and OSHA safety standards, including confined space and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Monitor crew activities to maintain compliance with NEC and local codes.
- Leadership & Coordination
- Serve as point of contact for field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and project managers.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members on technical skills and safety practices.
- Plan daily work tasks, allocate resources, and track progress against project schedules.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Complete daily work reports, JHA forms, and equipment inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, labor hours, and as-built conditions.
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
