Summary:
DMC is currently looking for Electricians, to join our team on a contract basis, based at Cadomin Mine site in Alberta. This will be a fly in/fly out (FIFO) position on a 14 days on/14 days off schedule. The worker will be required to work both day and night shifts, that will be 12 hours in duration.
Reporting to the Supervisor, the Electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring and equipment and ensure that all work is in accordance with relevant codes at the Cadomin Project. The scope will involve the development of an underground mine with multiple heading sizes, the largest being 13.7m x 7.6m. The scope includes underground construction, where the Electrician will be required to assist with the works related to constructing an underground shop, ventilation systems, dump hopper and a sump. Further underground scope that the Electrician will be involved with includes the installation of electrical components that are needed for the construction of passageways to facilitate mining, loading and blasting, and ensuring equipment is inspected and maintained properly in line with DMC procedures and standards.
Responsibilities:
•Complete construction works (such as cable installation, termination, testing, and general usage of small hand tools) for an underground dump hopper, ventilation fan systems, an underground shop fit out, installation of an overhead crane and associated steel, equipment maintenance support (repair of electrical systems and fault finding of CANBus systems).
•Support operational teams as required for maintenance support and associated underground scope (installation of electrical cables, general repairs and the support of mining operations).
•Equipment repairs will include electrical repairs on (but not limited to) 50te haul trucks, 12-yard LHDs, 2 boom jumbos, a bolter, utility trucks and a scaler (excavator).
•Assist with maintenance work as directed by supervisor. This can include working on repairs of equipment, assisting with electrical scope and offering support as needed.
•Follow all company policies and procedures.
•Have a complete personal basic trade tool inventory of required quality for the trade. This includes being able to monitor and track consignment stock and notify the supervisor when additional items are required. Requisitions may be placed by the individual, and an understanding of the procurement process will be expected (following training).
•Demonstrate the ability to read complex prints along with an exceptional understanding of electrical codes.
•Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring equipment using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
•Must be experienced and comfortable working at heights.
•Must follow standard safety operating procedures. This includes taking accountability for works completed, ensuring that it is in line with requirements and best practices (for example not modifying OEM equipment without Engineering approval).
•Usage of tooling associated with the scope, including (but not limited to), drills, and grinders.
•The worker may be around explosives and may be subject to security checks.
•Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC. Medical and drug testing will form part of the pre-employment process.
•Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.
•Other related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
•Electrician (Construction & Maintenance) License (309A) is preferred.
•Ontario Basic Underground Common Core - 770010 Program (U0000-U0001-U0002-U0012) is an asset.
•Strong organizational and time management skills are expected.
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience working underground.
•Must have good oral and written communication skills.
