The Electrical Project Engineer in EPC projects is responsible for overseeing the engineering, procurement, and construction phases of electrical systems within large-scale projects. This role ensures that electrical designs, equipment, and installations meet project specifications, standards, and timelines. The Electrical Project Engineer collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, procurement teams, contractors, and clients, to deliver successful and cost-effective project outcomes.
- Review and interpret electrical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure alignment with project/proposal requirements.
- Provide technical input during the design phase to optimize electrical systems and equipment.
- Assist the Senior Project Engineer in reviewing and approving electrical designs, drawings, and specifications, highlighting any project potential impacts (Schedule/Cost).
- Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of electrical systems and propose improvements or modifications. Ensuring accurate assessment and approval of changes in scope, cost, and schedule.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design reports and technical submittals.
- Single point of contact for all EPC project/proposal electrical engineering.
- Specify and evaluate electrical materials and equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgear, cables, panels).
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Review vendor and supplier technical documentation for compliance with project requirements/standards.
- Supervise on-site electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project schedules, technical specifications, and quality standards.
- Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support during construction.
- Ensure all electrical work adheres to local and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NFPA).
- Conduct inspections, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests) for electrical systems.
- Verify compliance with safety standards and ensure all activities meet HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, other discipline engineers, and subcontractors to align construction activities with overall project goals.
- Provide progress updates and technical reports to stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing documentation for project handover, including as-built drawings and operation manuals.
