Summary Statement
The employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for electrical equipment operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and field support assigned to it. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman. This is a working technical position and part of the Operations Division. It encompasses technical, supervisory, and hands-on work to install, maintain, repair, calibrate electrical equipment, electronic instrumentation and assist in the operation of the treatment facility and maintenance of treatment plant and associated field mechanical equipment. The District wastewater facilities is a 24- hour per day, year round operation and a person in this category may be subject to working shift work on a regular basis including holidays and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
•Recommends for selection, installs, calibrates, and monitors sensing, telemeters, recording and other instrumentation and circuitry components.
•Sketches and builds or modifies jigs, fixtures, instruments and related apparatus.
•Performs preventative and corrective maintenance and repair of field support systems electric components and controls.
•Performs preventative and maintenance of electronic instrumentation and control circuits.
Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or Equivalent
•Master or Journeyman Electrician License or County certificate of competency preferred; OR
•A combination of education and experience
•Must obtain a State of Florida Class “C” Wastewater operator License within 30 months or as defined in the “Employee Conditions of Employment” at time of hire.

•Has considerable latitude for the use of independent judgement in selection of work methods and procedures.
•Supervision is largely hands-on with some electrical training of field support system personnel.
•A mathematical working knowledge of algebra and geometry
•Understand principles of chemistry, geology, physics and related sciences.
•Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the treatment plant and support systems.
•Ethical conduct at all times
•Considerable knowledge of the District, Local, State and Federal rules and regulations relating to the water and wastewater utility industry.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
•Highly organized and methodical approach to daily work
•Effective computer skills, including the proficiency with Microsoft office.
•Pass a pre-employment physical along with a drug test.
•Submit a background check.
•Possess a valid class "E" Florida’s Driver’s License and obtain a valid Florida Class “B” CDL Driver license within the first two years of hire.
