.We are seeking a qualified and safety-focused Electrical Lead to oversee all electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and project execution at our Ohio-based oil refinery. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity, reliability, and performance of electrical systems across the facility, while ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
The Electrical Lead will coordinate day-to-day maintenance work, provide technical support, and supervise field electricians and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of electrical tasks.
- Provide leadership and hands-on support for electrical maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting activities.
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment including motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, lighting systems, and power distribution.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, and operations teams to prioritize and schedule electrical work.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and refinery-specific safety and design standards.
- Lead or support electrical scopes for plant turnarounds, capital projects, and emergency shutdowns.
- Manage contractors and craft labor during maintenance and project execution.
- Participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs), lockout/tagout (LOTO), and safety audits.
- Maintain documentation of work performed, inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance using CMMS (e.g., SAP PM).
- Assist in developing electrical PM strategies and reliability improvements for critical equipment.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on electrical issues in cross-functional team discussions.- 8+ years of industrial electrical experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role in a refinery, petrochemical, or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of industrial power systems (480V – 13.8kV), motor controls, switchgear, and grounding systems.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and explosion-proof equipment requirements (Class I, Div I/II).
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safety standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, OSHA).
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical trade school preferred.
- State Journeyman or Master Electrician License (or equivalent certification).
- Experience in planning or executing electrical work during refinery turnarounds or outages.
- Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation wiring.
- OSHA 30 certification and/or TWIC card.
- Experience using CMMS software like SAP, Maximo, or similar.
