Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Instrumentation/Electrical Technician opportunity at the Catholic University of America’s Vitreous State Laboratory in Washington, DC.
Experienced technician for maintenance of high-temperature equipment, glass melting systems, air pollution control systems, and slurry mixing and pumping systems. Under the direction of the supervisor, supports the operation of glass melters, air pollution control systems and operation of waste materials slurry preparations through maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
- Associate’s degree or technical certificate in instrumentation, industrial electricity or automation preferred.
- 5+ years experience with maintenance electrical systems and instrumentation control systems.- Licensed electrician preferred but not required.
- Install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of instrumentation and electrical equipment, including transmitters, control valves, PLCs, motor controls and low voltage systems.
- Perform loop checks, wiring terminations, and signal testing to ensure proper function of process control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and equipment manuals to perform installation, maintenance and repairs.
- Support facility operations during startup and shutdowns, and process changes by ensuring instrumentation and controls are functioning correctly.
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, meggers, HART communicators to identify faults and verify performance.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including calibrations to ensure compliance with facility quality assurance plan.
- Ability to work 10 to 12-hour shift, weekends, and nights occasionally.

Pay is commensurate with education and experience and may range between $35.00-$70.00 per hour.
