The E&I Technician position is responsible maintaining the instrumentation for the Andersonville facilities and assisting the electricians resolving plant control issues. The E&I Technician must be a motivated, self-starter who will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. This position is a key contributor for the Maintenance and Engineering organization. This position is committed to providing the necessary service to maintain instrumentation at a high rate of availability and at the most effective cost.
The E&I Technician primary duty is to ensure plant instrumentation performance so that equipment reliability is maximized. Provide support and assistance for Maintenance and Engineering activities.
- Instrumentation Maintenance- Service and maintain existing instrumentation related equipment including environmental control equipment as well as the test equipment needed to do this servicing.
- Pressure, Temperature, Level, Flow Measuring and Control Instruments - Work in shop and field to adjust and calibrate devices, repair and replace damaged parts.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, calibration, and repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.
- Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether instrumentation or other errors contributed to the problems.
- Analyze and troubleshoot PLC and control systems. Examine and troubleshoot equipment to diagnose source of problems, offer solutions, perform repairs, replace broken or defective parts, and make necessary adjustments for operation.
- Interface and work in conjunction with various internal and external disciplines both within and outside of CE Minerals to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Under general direction, the Instrumentation Technician will plan predictive and preventative maintenance activities along with planning daily activities ensuring that the work is cost effective and meets safety and quality standards.
- Participates in plant safety, health and environmental programs.
- Individual must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to co-workers, supervisors and vendors. Must have the ability to read and comprehend work instructions, equipment manuals, safety procedures, electrical control diagrams, P&ID’s and PLC programming logic.
- Must be a motivated, well organized and demonstrate the ability to plan/prioritize work in a manner that ensures minimal disruption to operations, improved equipment and process reliability and cost effectiveness.
- Computer Skills: Expertise and proficiency with Microsoft Office and other basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input data and research parts.
- Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process.
- Requires a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of three (3) years industrial experience emphasizing instrumentation, electrical or process control. Associates Degree in Electrical/ Electronics Technology and some experience preferred. Experience and knowledge of various Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).
- While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process.
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting with exposure to all seasonal climatic conditions.
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, and/or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
- Approximately 5% office environment and 95% plant environment.
