The Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for activities relating to construction engineering within the Electrical discipline. Duties include interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications, cable installations and terminations, field verification of materials, and technical direction to field electrical personnel as required. This position will be responsible for a variety of construction tasks utilizing industrial codes and standards related to raceway/cable tray, cable, electrical equipment installations. This position is not considered the design authority for the project, but only to enforce electrical construction per design. This position requires good planning and organizational skills, ability to perform detailed inspections and the ability to produce accurate, clear and concise documentation.
Principle responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
•Must have ability to read and understand Grounding Drawings; General Arrangements, Single line and three line Dwgs, Control Wiring Diagrams and Electrical Specifications – and apply engineering information to the field
•Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excell, Outlook, Teams), BluBeam Review, NavisWorks 3D model
•Reports to Electrical Superintendents
•Must be able to work outdoors in heat/humidity, work at heights and not be physically hindered accessing the work
•Plan and prepare electrical work packages and LOTO’s.
•Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the electrical discipline such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, lightning protection, and fire detection systems.
•Establish an electrical design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Engineer of Record, including agreement on electrical engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management.
•Coordinate with the Procurement Organization for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment including panels, motors, and switchgear.
•Work with resident engineering, start-up engineering and operating personnel to coordinate electrical construction activities.
•Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure electrical materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications and interpret vendor design documents and installation manuals.
•Implement controls over variables affecting electrical installation progress such as raceway, cable, terminations, and equipment.
•Ensure engineering and procurement provide timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment and that other corporate programs are fully utilized.
•Have the ability to compose and submit RFI’s and Submittals efficiently and in a timely manner.
•Have ability to read and assist with building a schedule.
•Have the ability to do drawing take offs.
•Have the ability to compose job tracking data.
•As needed work with QC on turn over documentation.
•Will work closely with PM
•Perform other duties as required
•Understand departmental design guides, engineering codes, standards, and company policies.
•Assist in producing less complex electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and limited-scope studies.
•Complete routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and material selection.
•Collect, manage, and assimilate engineering data for projects.
•Prepare fundamental power system analysis and electrical component sizing calculations based on established engineering principles.
•Adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
•Understand internal client needs and external client interests.
Position Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have 10+ years supervising industrial electrical installation, must have industrial, WTP experience a plus but not a requirement but must have industrial background. Must have proven knowledge of duct banks and lay out and installation.
