Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division has an opening for an Electrical Engineering Technologist who will provide hands-on design, drafting and field support for SRC’s Rare Earth Processing Facility.
Accountabilities
•Prepare and assist in preparing electrical engineering designs, drawings and specifications including panel design, schematics, single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, cable tray routing and general arrangement drawings.
•Support engineering efforts with design concepts, equipment specifications and procurement activities.
•Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and clash-free electrical design within 3D models and facility layouts.
•Support field installations and commissioning by providing hands-on troubleshooting and resolving design and installation issues in real time.
•Prepare material take-offs (MTOs), equipment lists, and technical specifications.
•Support commissioning activities by conducting inspections and equipment testing.
Qualifications
•Diploma in electrical engineering technology , electronic systems engineering technology or equivalent
•3-5 years of experience working in a related field and at a consulting engineering firm is preferred
•Candidates will have or will immediately obtain and maintain registration with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan (TPS)
Skills
•Proficiency in AutoCAD and Plant 3D is required; experience with Revit and Excel VBA is considered an asset.
•Experience with power system modeling and/or lighting design and modeling.
•Experience with industrial automation and instrumentation systems is an asset.
•Team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•Highly organized and proactive with the ability to work independently.
•Ability to troubleshoot design and field issues under time-sensitive conditions.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing project needs, and work across engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
•Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards.
The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
