The Transmission Engineering Services department is responsible for documentation preparation for Transmission Line and Substation facilities. The department provides engineering and drafting support services for operation and maintenance activities to Transmission services.
The drafting department requires external Electrical Engineering Technologists or CADD Technologists to provide technical support associated with the completion of capital projects and with as-building of site facilities. The Consultant’s resource(s) will work under the direction of the Manager, Transmission Engineering Services.
Services of up to two (2) qualified individuals from one (1) Consultant are required to provide the services detailed in the scope of services section below. Work will be assigned on demand for variable periods based on predefined labour hour limits.
The Consultant shall provide resources to work as a Capital and As-built Specialist on concurrent transmission projects. The resource will work closely with various groups within and external to the company.
The Capital and As-built Specialist will perform a variety of technical assignments associated with the completion of technical documentation for transmission facilities, including:
- Utilize Autodesk drawing management system and software for preparation and/or “as building” of AutoCAD station drawings, electrical and wiring diagrams.
- Scan drawings and create CADD files according to standards.
- Prepare charts, graphs, tables or drawings for presentations or reports.
- Check drawings and electronic drawing files to ensure completeness and conformance with standards and specifications.
- Arrange for the reproduction and distribution of prints.
- Coordinate with engineering and field staff to complete assignments, including compiling information for final drafting.
- Review technical information to complete as-built documents and data sheets.
- Meet with engineering staff or the Manager to provide project progress updates and review quality/acceptability of work performance and product.
- Submit redline drawings requiring drafting to the CADD Supervisor and coordinate with CADD Techs on completion.
Training will be provided on Autodesk Vault drawing management tool. Training on ElecDes (Electrical CADD Design Software) can also be arranged at the Consultant’s expense if required.
- Electrical Engineering Technologist with a Diploma in Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- CADD Technologist with Electrical design experience and a diploma in CADD or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or equivalent.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Electrical Design and Electrical Design Software (e.g., Autodesk VAULT, ElecDes).
The proposed resource(s) will work on-site at the head office in Regina, Saskatchewan. Travel to project sites and other centres in the province may be required.
Normal business hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour for lunch.
Computer workstation access will include corporate software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Internet). The resource(s) will also have access to technical software such as Autodesk VAULT and ElecDes, only for project-related work.
