Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on innovative design and problem-solving. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and implement electrical systems and components that meet project specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
•Lead engineering operations and supervise Engineering Technicians
•Manage capital improvement projects and departmental budgets
•Oversee system studies, infrastructure design, and construction for substations, transmission, and distribution
•Maintain and enhance SCADA, GIS, MDM, and fiber optic communication systems
•Ensure compliance with NERC and other regulatory standards
•Provide engineering support for power generation and water systems
•Conduct public outreach on safety and energy efficiency
•Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders
Experience
•Experience in electric generation, transmission, substation, and distribution operations and planning
•Familiarity with protection and control schemes, SCADA systems, fiber optics, and utility modeling tools
•Knowledge of OSHA, NEC, IEEE, NESC, and APPA safety standards
•Previous experience in developing vision inspection systems will be considered a strong asset.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
•Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, preferably 2 years in a supervisory role
•Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Minnesota within 4 years.
