Electrical Engineer- Asset Strategy and Engineering

Where will you work: Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.

We’re looking for an experienced and driven Electrical Engineer to lead asset integrity initiatives based at our Saskatchewan operating sites. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the long-term health and reliability of our electrical infrastructure—from 480V systems to high voltage networks up to 230kV. You'll work closely with global cross-functional teams in Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability to troubleshoot issues, implement strategic improvements, and drive performance across critical systems.

This is more than just a technical role—it’s an opportunity to improve company-wide reliability practices and shape the future of how we manage and maintain electrical assets. If you thrive in complex, hands-on environments and enjoy being the go-to expert who bridges the gap between engineering strategy and on-the-ground execution, this role is for you.

Join a company that values innovation, teamwork, and long-term impact—and take the lead in powering performance where it matters most.

What will you do?* Innovate and Lead: Develop and implement strategies to ensure our electrical systems operate at peak performance, from power distribution networks to control systems and instrumentation.
Provide Technical Expertise: Implement and execute asset integrity strategies at one of the operating sites within the North America Business, focusing on long-term asset health and sustaining gains to deliver value and achieve overall site operational goals.
Collaborate and Influence: Work closely with a team of Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability personnel to monitor asset reliability results, address issues hindering reliability, and provide electrical engineering, reliability, and process subject matter expertise to peers developing and deploying reliability improvements.
Global Impact: Partner with our South America team to share and align best practices, driving innovation across borders.
Create and Sustain: Develop new processes, programs, and tools to guide the organization towards improved asset reliability, and help sites implement these strategies effectively.
Coordinate Power System Studies: Responsible for electrical infrastructure equipment, including protection and controls, ranging from final utilization voltage (480/600V) to high voltage (15/34.5/69/72/115/138/230kV), and may include standby generation (<3MW) and steam turbine generators (<68MW) depending on site. Complete minor updates to power system models.
Electrical Risk Assessments: Perform, and train others to perform electrical risk assessments across the North America Business. Acting as the SME to prioritize risks, develop recommendations and mitigations that will be acceptable to site stakeholders.
Lead implementation of asset integrity strategies focused on long-term asset health and operational excellence.
Identify gaps in maintenance practices and recommend sustainable improvements. Optimize PM and PdM activities to boost asset performance.
Monitor and analyze reliability data, track downtime, and lead Root Cause Analyses to prevent recurrence of equipment failures.
Develop and refine asset strategies with peers across multiple sites; deploy best practices organization-wide.
Serve as the technical authority on electrical infrastructure, including HV switchgear, transformers, protection and control systems, and backup generation.
Support planning for annual turnarounds and outages; supervise field contractors and interpret test results to ensure issues are addressed.
Conduct audits and inspections, authorize work permits, and contribute to lock-out/tag-out and electrical safety planning.
Maintain and update site power system models, coordinate with external specialists for major studies.
Promote and apply predictive maintenance technologies (vibration, IR, UE, oil analysis, etc.).

Who We're Looking For:* Passionate Visionary: Someone who is excited about creating and sharing new processes, and helping sites implement them.

Problem Solver: A proactive individual who can see the future state and perform the necessary tasks to make progress, while sustaining gains through documentation.
Collaborative Leader: We need a visionary who is driven by making a difference and eager to lead the charge.
If you're driven by innovation and eager to make a global impact, this role is for you. Join us and be at the forefront of engineering excellence!

What you’ll need:* Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Major in Electrical Engineering.

Proven experience in mining and manufacturing maintenance Engineering.
Extensive electrical engineering experience, particularly in the operation and maintenance of high-voltage switchgear, transformers, and other industrial electrical infrastructure.
Technical Skills: Working knowledge of power system protection and coordination, control systems (Rockwell, GE, ABB PLCs, Delta-V, ABB 800xA, Yokogawa DCS), and instrumentation.
Problem Solver: A proactive individual who can see the future state and perform the necessary tasks to make progress, while sustaining gains through documentation.
Collaborative Leader: Strong leadership qualities and team-building skills. Ability to influence others and work effectively with all levels of management.
Certifications: Eligible to be registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) for Canadian sites. CMRP, CRE, CRL, or CSSBB certification is an asset.
Software Proficiency: Experience with power system modeling software tools (Easy Power is an asset) and CMMS or similar software.
Safety Knowledge: Working knowledge of National Electrical Code for US sites and Canadian Electrical Code for Canadian sites. Familiarity with Mine Safety and Health Administration electrical safety (MSHA) for US mining operations and CSA M421 Use of Electricity in Mines for Canadian sites.
Predictive Technologies: Knowledge of predictive technologies (vibration, IR, UE, MCA, oil analysis) and facilitation experience with RCM and FMEA.
