Electrical Design Engineer 2

Annual salary: $ 87,700.00 - 110,900.00
What you'll do
•Act in the role of Professional of Record, Owners Engineer, and Work Package Manager.
•Engages in the engineering of electrical utility generation systems and develops expertise in design engineering.
•Analyze and resolve challenging engineering problems.
•Manage small to medium sized projects and work packages, estimate capital costs and resource requirements, write
technical specifications and standards, perform detail design and calculations, and provide technical design support during
installation and commissioning.
•Provide work leadership and technical direction to junior engineers, consultants and technical support staff, review work of
the project team and of consultants and contractors to ensure accuracy, achievement of required results, and adherence to
accepted engineering practice.
•Develop and maintain effective professional relationship with internal and external colleagues in order to determine
relative priorities, assess the impact of work on others, and resolve issues of concern.
What you bring
•An Electrical engineering degree (preferably power systems) recognized by Canadian universities.
•Four (4) plus years’ experience in a relevant engineering field, such as designing, maintaining, installing and testing
hydroelectric or thermal generation equipment.
•Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers & Geoscientists British
Columbia (EGBC)
•Practical and academic knowledge in rotating equipment, reactive equipment, and generator terminal equipment, and/or
electrical balance of plant design.
•Demonstrated ability to prepare technical specifications for tending, evaluate tenders and makes recommendations for
awards.
•Demonstrated technical writing, organizational, and presentation skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
•Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
•Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects and to plan and manage project resources is desirable.
